Grand Opening at Camera 12

After two years of hard work, San Jose Bike Clinic is getting a space!

We are proud to announce we will be opening up shop this Saturday, November 1st at Camera 12 (201 S 2nd St, San Jose) from 12 noon to 7 pm. We hope you’ll drop in and check it out!

We are actively seeking volunteers to staff our new shop schedule. If you have time, energy, and a desire to help keep the dream alive, please consider volunteering. Specifically we have online sign-up sheets for:

It took a lot of hard work and a bit of luck for us to finally make it to the point where we can open up shop. I am very proud to be a part of a grass roots organization that has made it this far, and look forward to what we’ll do with this new space and where we’ll go from here.

I want to give a special shout out and thank you to our volunteers that put in the sweat to make the dream come alive, as well as our fiscal sponsor SVBC, and to our community for coming out to pay the Bike Clinic a visit. We hope we’ll see you soon!

Bike Clinic Joins Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition!

The San José Bike Clinic Steering Committee is excited to announce that Bike Clinic is now a fiscally sponsored project of the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC), which is the leading bicycling advocate and bicycle use promoter in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

What does this mean? It means that we now have nonprofit status and the backing of SVBC’s existing infrastructure, allowing our group of dedicated volunteers to take Bike Clinic to the next level! We will be looking to all of our supporters over the next year to help us design and deliver programs, raise funds, recruit volunteers, and put in time and energy to help move Bike Clinic forward. We hope you’ll join us.

Our mission continues to be “to provide a shared space for bicycle repair and education and to build a robust and diverse cycling community in San Jose.” As you can see from our History, Bike Clinic was founded in January 2012 by a grassroots group of bicycling enthusiasts, and has achieved a lot already.

Some of the next goals on our road map are to recruit more volunteers, continue to put on Mobile Bike Clinic events and community bike rides, raise funds to buy tools and equipment, save up capital, and open our doors in downtown San José. Want to help?

Introducing San José Bike Clinic!

San José Bike Clinic held its first public event yesterday with beaming success!  Over 50 people showed up at Montgomery and San Fernando Streets to repair bikes, learn how to repair their own bike, compete in bike games, take rides around downtown, and chat about the Bike Clinic!

We’ll aim to have more updates and perhaps photos here soon.  For now, be sure to check out these amazing photographs from Alex at Metro and more photos from Jack Miller of Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition.
